The last segment to the end of the High Line, you'll need a guide to find your way. The Trail departs from the Canal and heads onto Green Valley Ranch Golf Course, crossing 56th Avenue with your life in your hands! Look for Cindy Crawford, the High Line's resident bald eagle. Due to pending construction, you'll have to detour through the neighborhood to then approach the final head gate (#165!) and Canal's end out in the prairie. Few people have found the final head gate, and it's a special treat when your guide takes you there.

Start: Green Valley Ranch

End: Northern Terminus

Length: 5+ miles

Mile Markers: 66-71

Highlights: Green Valley Ranch Golf Course, Head Gate 165, Northern Terminus

This segment is the first of the last two remaining that you will absolutely want a guide. With little to no signage and a trail that plays hide and go seek, a guide is a must. You'll head north from Colfax, behind the King Soopers offices, and across train tracks. Here's your chance to walk in the Canal. You'll even pass the High Line Canal dock and marina before crossing I70 where the Trail veers from the Canal. You'll be able to see mile marker 63 off in the distance. The segment ends just past the last seen mile marker, 66.

Even though you cross Colfax three times on this segment, you'll have no idea of the hustle and bustle just a 1/2 mile away as you escape into the meadows and horse ranches of rural Aurora.

After leaving Expo Park, you'll be in the heart of Aurora. First will be the Aurora Hills golf course and Aurora's green house, then you'll walk behind the Aurora Government Center. If you have time, take the bridge off the Trail into the Center where you can find the Aurora Central library (and bathrooms!) and some amazing art scattered outside. After going under Chambers, you'll enter DeLaney Farms. Be sure to stop at the homestead to read its history before ambling on over the Toll Gate creeks (where tolls used to be collected to cross.) Stop at the pagoda for a break, pass the Community College of Aurora, and end up at your final stop for the day.

After weaving through the Cherry Creek Trail and High Line Trail intersection, you'll see how the High Line Canal ducks under the Cherry Creek, and then you'll meander north along the Cherry Creek Golf Course. This is one of the straightest sections of the High Line! Eventually you'll enter the Fairmont Cemetery (be sure to pay respects at Marjorie Perry's gravestone!), and then pass between the Windsor Gardens retirement village on the left and Windsor Lake on the right (elevated.) You'll cross over Havana into Aurora and end the segment at the north end of  Expo Park. Be sure to see the historic High Line Canal sign on the west side of the trail right before Alameda.
