High Line Canal Segment 3

If you’re not interested in hiking the entire High Line, buy The Best Urban Hikes: Denver, which has several hikes, out n backs, and loops that incorporate pieces of the High Line. See details about this segment, below.

Please note: As of 2020, you can now park at the trailhead, walk to mile marker 7, and take a Chatfield Park trail across the Plum Creek. You’ll walk northeasterly, crossing the creek, and ending up on the High Line at Mile Marker 14. You can keep walking north on the High Line Canal Trail until you reach the parking lot at the landscaper, which is the trailhead information for segment 4.

This segment is a lovely out-n-back of about 4 miles. Running along the Plum Creek, the High Line Canal trail breaks between mile markers 8 and 10. Although the Canal continues, there is no place to cross Plum Creek on the trail. Thus, you’ll need to go out n back in order to complete this segment. This is a quiet segment; most people don’t do it because of its out n back nature. You’ll enjoy a quiet walk possibly seeing foxes, coyotes, deer, horses and many birds of prey.
